Early on Thursday morning Steve, Cal, Mike and I jumped into the truck and took off for Peoria, Illinois. We were heading to a precision planting conference that was hosted by Monsanto. About a month ago we were approached to participate in the beta testing of a new precision planting technology called Fieldscripts. This technology takes previous years yield data, soil samples, and many other variables to generate a planting prescription for a given field. This prescription is stored in a database called “the cloud” which can be accessed from anywhere. To retrieve and utilize the prescription, we will use an I-pad that will be plugged into our 20/20 planting monitor, and the I-Pad will provide the prescription instruction to the planter itself. This is cutting edge technology and we look forward to seeing what kind of results will come from this test trial.
