The wet weather has not made it easy on the beans. Where water was standing for several days, the beans have all died leaving black ugly holes in the fields. In other areas, the repeated rains have left the bean roots deprived of oxygen in the wet and cool soil, making the plants more susceptible to diseases. We are thankful to have a bit of a break in the weather the last two days so that we can finish spraying the weeds and volunteer corn before cutting and detasseling begins.
