We began harvesting corn on October 16 and it has been stop and start ever since then. The moisture in the corn has been slowly dropping below 20%, but the corn still needs to go into a dryer bin before it can be stored or hauled to town. That just means a little more trucking and a lot of planning, in addition to the LP to fire up the burners.
After we started we have had rain and dense fog to contend with, but fortunately also some sunshine and wind to dry things back out. We installed cables under the combines so if they get stuck we can safely pull them out but as you can see, even though the fields may be dry enough to combine we still chose to load the semi from the road.
