Steve Henry serves as CEO for LongView Farms. He grew up actively participating in the family farm operation. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Farm Operation from Iowa State University, he worked as an ag lender in Nebraska for Farm Credit Services and then for Metropolitan. Since returning to farm in 1988, Steve has taken advantage of numerous educational opportunities including the Ferguson Agri-Management Institute, Texas A & M’s Executive Program for Ag Producers, and Purdue’s Top Crop Farmer Program. Steve has served on the Iowa Soybean Association Board of Directors, Heart of Iowa Co-op Board, and is currently a director on the Farm Credit Services of America board. His local involvement in Rotary, Cornerstone Church, and his sons’ activities has provided leadership roles, professional contacts, and opportunities to help support the community.
Laurie Henry provides the accounting, marketing, and record management for the farm. She graduated in Wildlife Biology from Iowa State University. Her previous position as assistant director at the Ames Chamber of Commerce provided experience in personnel management, leadership training, budgeting and financial procedures, and business development strategies that are of benefit to the operation. She has served on the board of directors for the Agricultural Environmental Management Systems Network (Ag EMS Net), Center for Agriculture Development (CAD) at Iowa State University, and the Farm Credit Services Advisory Board. In addition to her farm responsibilities, she currently serves on the Nevada State Bank and Trust Board and volunteers for a number of community and church activities.
Calvin McFadden is the Operations Manager for LongView Farms. He has many years of farming experience and skills in mechanics and carpentry. He began working for Steve’s father, Richard Henry in 1984 and remained as a vital part of the operation when Richard retired. Cal is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the equipment and performing the day-to-day farming operations.
Mike McEnany graduated from Iowa State University and works in operations on the farm. Beside being a jack-of-all-trades in the operation, his professional abilities are seen in his operating skills and knowledge of agriculture. He is currently serving on the Story County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
Scott Henry is the Business Development Manager for LongView Farms and is responsible for business growth, process management, and the implementation of precision technology. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business, International Agriculture, and Finance from Iowa State University. Prior to joining the LongView Farms team, Scott worked for Summit Farms near Alden, IA where he managed new construction and development projects within Summit’s livestock operations.
Tim Pick has been a partner in our operation since 2005. He provides valuable help during planting and harvest season every year. Tim graduated from Iowa State University with degrees in Ag Business and Farm Management.
Kevin Shawgo received a bachelors degree in Horticulture from Western Illinois University, and has worked for the City of Ames for 30 years in the Department of Parks and Recreations. After retiring as superintendent of Parks and Facilities, Kevin now brings his experience and expertise to LongView Farms. He has lived in Nevada since 1983 with his wife Lisa and their sons Colin, Owen, and Ethan.
Mark Pleis handles all of our IT needs. He has configured our internal network, and continually provides trouble-shooting and technical support for our system. A “farmer at-heart”, Mark has been a great help keeping us current with ever-changing technology.
Don Williams is a retired dairy farmer who began working for LongView Farms in 1995. He operates a tractor each spring and fall to help with our tillage needs.
Kip Farthing joined the LongView Farms team in 2015 and will be helping with the field work. With a life-time of farming experience in Story County, we are glad to have him on the team.
Dean Dueland joined our operations team in 2015.
